Uni-Art Fest 2018: 3 Reasons WHY This Would Be an EYE OPENER Festival For you

If you were to ask me a couple of years ago, if I see myself being associated with arts nearly every weekend, I would probably laugh my heart out right away. Such was how I am couple of years ago.

I would stick myself closely to a rigid and repetitious routine and live the same boring life over and over again. Things changed for me last year when I attended the very first concert of my life and from that day my life has been real colourful.

Such is an amazing thing getting yourself involved and experiencing  the beauty of what the world of arts has to offer is very satisfying. I am glad I did it last year and now I am going to give you 3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND THE UNI-ART FEST 2018.

Before I get into the reasoning, here is some information for you regarding the festival.
This amazing Art Fest is proudly brought to by Unique Arts Culture & heritage Foundation Negeri Sembilan. The Uni-Art Fest 2018 will be a 2 day festival happening on the 23rd to 24th of June 2018, which is this coming Saturday & Sunday.

Kompleks Jabatan Kebudayaan & Kesenian Negera Negeri Sembilan which is located at Jalan Sg Ujong, Seremban will be playing the host for this fun filled beautiful art festival.

To make this event even more special than it already is going to be, we would be having the honorable Tan Sri Rais Yatim as the quest of honour for this festival

Now going on to the 3 REASONS on why you should attend this, I would start off with my personal favourite reason and I believe it is also going to be your favourite reason too!

1. IT IS SUPER CHEAPPPPP!!!!

Tell me who doesn't like the word "cheap". This time you have an opportunity to enter the beautiful world of arts at an absolutely affordable price! Perhaps in the past you would have stopped yourself from attending any artistic event because you needed to fork out hundreds of ringgits and that may not have been feasible for you.

Afraid not, this is your golden opportunity to attend an art festival for absolutely and judge it for yourself if you would want this colourful to be a part of your life. After all a little soothing beautiful art on a weekend at an affordable price could be the perfect escape from a hectic week,

2. Dance Galore!!!

I have been told that there is going to be an extravaganza of dances lined up just for YOU! Split into two themes, you will experience Ancient Arts of India Dance and some local flavor in the form of Unique Malaysian Art Dance.

I am so excited to watch the Indian Folk Drums, The Yiǔsǎn Dance (Chinese Dance) & The Daling- Daling Dance from the Bajau Sabah people. Regardless how many dance you have that night, it will be complete with some Punjabi Bhangra dance to keep your feet tapping and the Uni- Art Fest 2018 has that in-store for you too!!

3. Forum on ART and a MUSIC CONCERT!!!!!

One of my favourite part about this art festival is that it is not only about entertaining us but also educating those who are attending it. With the ARTS FORUM in placed here, key topics like the importance of Performing Arts, how Arts can discipline kids and why you should consider Arts as a profession are being covered and it can only be beneficial to us.

Once you are done with that, it is time for the musical to begin. Being a fan of fusion music, having listening to AGAM for years , there is something beautiful and magical about fusion music which is hard to be found elsewhere.

In the Uni-Art Fest 2018, the organizers have gotten us EKAM, an offshoot of the AKASHA Band to be performing and entertaining us with the blend of the best from East and West. The key highlight of the show is definitely going to be the musical magic of SITAR.

So what are you guys waiting for go now and get yourself the tickets immediately and float yourself away this weekend with the artistic brilliance at the Uni-Art Fest 2018. See you there!!!!!

Triple Treat: Who Won The Battle Of The Bands?

On Saturday, 9th of June 2018, Mojo Projects presented yet another concert under its Concert Series, called Triple Treat: Battle of Bands. It was a 3 ½ hour show with 3 bands consistently belting out song after song, entertaining the crowd from start to finish. Not a second was wasted.

Now, we feel it is only apt that a Battle of the Bands confers a winner. After all it is a battle. Before we pick the winner, let’s recap the night -- who performed and what were the highlights.

The first band to take stage at Triple Treat was a personal favourite of mine, AGAM. For those who aren't aware, AGAM performed last year at MILFF 2017 and unexpectedly stole the show as the closing act.

I was very pleased when Mojo Projects decided to call AGAM again this year (something they normally won’t do) because these guys are nothing short of special. At the Battle of the Bands, it was AGAM who headlined the night,  casting their talent on the audience.

AGAM picked off where they left last year and got the crowd singing at the top of their lungs from the first number. I had brought a friend to Triple Treat who had no idea who AGAM was. By the time they moved to their 3rd song, she had already declared her undying love to them.

It is not an overstatement when I call AGAM a troupe of tricksters bringing musical magic to Malaysia, because such is their talent. They are able to cast magic spells on their audience, turning a rookie into a die hard fan. I like what Harish, the lead singer from AGAM said after their gig, “This is AGAM, you can tell people about our music, we are not that bad after all.”

AGAM you were not just that bad after all, in fact you guys are true magicians. You set the bar extremely high at the beginning of Triple Treat and there was still Naresh Iyer and Stephen Devassy to go.

With AGAM setting the pulse of the crowd, it was Naresh Iyer’s turn to amaze the crowd with his melodious voice. In terms of stardom, there is no doubt that Naresh Iyer was the biggest pulling factor at Triple Treat.

Naresh Iyer’s voice combined with the music arrangement of The Navneeth Sundar Ensemble, was a melodious treat to ones ears. I am sure everyone there waited anxiously for Naresh Iyer to perform “Munbe Vaa” but who would have guessed his renditions of yesteryear hits -- “Kanne Kalaimane” and “Malarthum Malaratha” was just as good. Thank you for taking us back in time with your soulful versions Naresh.

The highlight of his show, apart from “Munbe Vaa”, was when he brought a little rock flavor into “Kannukul Kanne”. It was absolutely brilliant and filled with energy. His final track of the night was one that has etched itself in my memory. His stellar performance of “Vena Machan Vena” was mind blowing.
He burst into slick movement on the dance floor, but the real star was a member of the audience who rocked the dance floor with smooth but comical dance moves. I don’t know who you are brother but you were amazing. Everyone behind was cheering at your talent, brother!

After 2 out of 3 of them had performed, we were at the brink of losing our voices, thanks to the endless cheering. The final act was one we had no exposure to before but we were reeling in excitement for Stephen Devassy and The Solid Band.

We had our eyes glued to the stage, waiting for the man to make his entrance as his band was ready on stage. Suddenly, there was music and cheers coming from the back of the hall and people were going crazy. Stephen Devassy had made a grand entrance from back through the audience and we were losing our grip!

He was jamming and hyping up the audience with his keystar and it was absolutely startling. The way Stephen Devassy conducts himself on stage reminded me a lot of Sid Sriram during last year’s MILFF concert. The both of them clearly know how to raise the pulse of the audience and return the enigmatic vibe that transcends the music.

By just jamming his keystar and with no vocals, he was able to get the whole room to sing the songs, without having to ask. That's the kind of magnetic aura he exuded. Tunes such as “Mustafa Mustafa”, “Humma Humma” and “Maanguyile Poonguyile” got the crowd singing at the top of their voices to his music.

My personal favourite was when he dedicated a part of his show towards love, peace and humanity, spreading positive vibes and energy through his music in a world filled with so much wrong doings. That was a fantastic touch Stephen, simply fantastic.

Before I announce the winner of The Battle Of The Bands, I need to thank Mojo Projects for adding an opening act this time around. Before AGAM performed, we had our very own homeboys kicking off the show before Iftar with brilliant fusion music.

Current favourite, Music Kitchen was live on stage with Arvind Raj and Abimanyu. I had the luxury to hear Music Kitchen during the press conference of MILFF 2018 few months ago and they impressed me a whole lot. I wondered why weren't they performing at the concerts but it seemed my question was answered at Triple Treat.

The music fusion created by Music Kitchen was wondrous but with the accompanying vocals of Arvind Raj and Abimanyu, it was a real treat. Shout out to the stage presence of Arvind Raj. I really like the way he engaged the crowd during his performance. Watch this space people because Music Kitchen is going to be a big name soon and we will be dishing out updates on them here!

In a nutshell, Triple Treat: Battle Of The Bands rocked the night out. Music Kitchen cooked us an excellent appetizer with some brilliant music fusion of Malay, English and Tamil. AGAM are a bunch of magicians. The type of music they create are absolutely magical and it will take you to a different dimension. Naresh Iyer was heartful and touched our souls with his melodies. Stephen Devassy was an absolute rockstar. He got the crowd reaching the peak with their energy throughout his set.

Now, announcing the winner of Mojo Project’s Triple Treat: Battle Of The Bands.

*Drumrolls*

The winner issssssssssss……...

THE AUDIENCE.

Yes, the real winner of the night is the audience at the show. They were treated to a night of magical performances from 4 different flavours and it was all top notch. To all of you who attended the show, congratulations!

5 Reasons you should be attending Triple Treat by MOJO Projects

By, Tharanie Rajendran

MOJO Projects is back again! Round 1 was like unicorns and rainbows for music lovers as MOJO Projects brought the golden era of 80’s musical with a tinge of magic by Aalaap Raju and team. Trust me when I say round two is not going to be anything short of extravagance as three big band names are coming to rock the stage!

If that is not enough for you to be heading over to https://airasiaredtix.com/tripletreat to purchase the ticket for Triple Treat on this Saturday, 9th June, 2018, here we list down 5 reasons for you to attend Mojo Project’s Triple Treat!

1. MOJO Projects

If you know one thing about MOJO Projects, you should know that they live by the idea of “Go big or go home”. Now, they are back again, proving my perception right and outdoing their amazing shows last year.

MOJO Projects has been handling international stars at our homeground since 2016 and they have a reputation for unique, creative and outstanding events in the event management industry. One of the reasons I am in love with this company and would blindly purchase the ticket if it is run by them is because MOJO Projects fuses a variety of genres together and it somehow works wonders on stage.

2.     2. The theme for this round

Branded Triple Treat, three big names are been flown from India to perform a battle of the bands. Mojo Projects Sdn Bhd’s Operation Director, Mogethen Gowrisan said that Triple Treat is going to be will be a fusion festival and a spectacular night as this concert will be something entirely different from a conventional music show because all the three different bands will be doing something different on stage.

I mean, can you even imagine what does this musical banquet has in store for you as some soulful Carnatic meets hip hop and rock set the stage on fire while one of the greatest pianist there creating magic with his fingertips and a voice that melt hearts is there? ALL TOGETHER?

3.    3. Agam

If you have not experienced Agam, just get ready to get your mindblown by this Bangalore based Carnatic rock band. Agam consists of 7 people and Since its launch in 2003, Agam has made a mark in the Indie music scene, with its unique blending of Carnatic ragas with rock riffs. Conventional kritis found themselves in head-banging reincarnations, but with finesse.

Apart from its originals, Agam does interpretations of popular mainstream film music as well. Last year, I’d say Agam was one of the most hit bands where audience were running to the front and singing along. I can only imagine how awesome they are gonna be for this year. And to those who are attending this concert, you guys are super lucky because Agam will be performing songs from their new album at the concert.

4.    4. Stephen Devassy

If you’re Indian and you know piano, there is NO WAY that you don’t know Stephen Devassy. This man plays piano like he finished Grade 16 or something! (to those who don’t get this joke, piano has only 8 grades to complete to master the instrument).

A talented music virtuoso, with a degree in music from the reputed Trinity College London, Stephen Devassy has been an integral part of the music scene in South India since the age of 18. he has collaborated with big-wigs AR Rahman, Hariharan, Zakir Hussain and Sivamani, gaining a lot of appreciation and acclaim for his powerful performances and heart-warming compositions. An inspiration to young aspiring musicians, Devassy, along with his band, is all set to get the audience of Kuala Lumpur into the groove with his feet tapping music and electric performance.

5.    5. Naresh Iyer

Now tell me, whose heart did her not melt with mere 2 lyrics in Munbe Vaa? And since then, this man has been unstoppable! He even voiced Ilayathalapathy Vijay recently for Mersal Arasan. A quick did you know about Naresh Iyer is that A.R.Rahman spotted him in a reality show. He didn’t win the show, but he won the heart of A.R.R. as Naresh Iyer was invited to A.R.R.’s studio for Mayilirage.

I would do literally anything to watch this man sing in person! Wouldn’t you want to experience him in person? I heard you whispering yes already!

SO YES! What are you waiting for? Head over to https://airasiaredtix.com/tripletreat to purchase your tickets now and we will see you at Hotel Istana Mahkota’s Ballroom from 6pm to 11.30pm on coming Saturday, 9th June 2018.
